About Me
Monica Garty Juice | Founder
Monica Garty Juice is a pediatric nurse practitioner, pediatric mental health specialist, and educator whose work centers on understanding the complex intersection of physical health, mental health, neurodevelopment, and the impact of lived experiences on the developing brain and body.
Monica received her graduate education at Yale University and completed advanced fellowship training in child and adolescent mental health at The Ohio State University. Her additional training includes trauma-focused education through the Trauma Research Foundation and Bessel van der Kolk's Traumatic Stress Studies Program. She also serves as clinical faculty at the UCLA School of Nursing, where she is involved in educating and preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals.
Access to mental healthcare can be daunting and downright impossible

With a clinical background in pediatrics and specialized training in child and adolescent mental health, Monica brings a unique perspective to understanding children, adolescents, and families whose needs don't always fit neatly into traditional healthcare or mental health models. She has a particular interest in complex and often overlooked presentations, including neurodivergence, trauma and attachment, anxiety, OCD, sensory differences, autonomic dysregulation, and the ways these experiences can influence behavior, relationships, learning, and physical health.

Throughout her clinical career, Monica has been drawn to the children and families who often fall between the cracks of traditional systems of care. Her work has focused on looking beyond symptoms and behaviors to better understand the underlying developmental, neurological, relational, environmental, and physiological factors contributing to a person's experience. She believes that behavior makes sense when we understand the whole person—and that meaningful support begins with curiosity rather than assumptions.

Before founding Intersection Rising, Monica developed and launched a Coping Skills Program within a pediatric practice to address the growing mental health needs of children and adolescents in primary care. What began as an effort to provide families with practical tools and accessible mental health education evolved into a broader model of support, connecting families with resources, specialists, and a network of professionals across disciplines.
Intersection Rising grew out of that experience and a recognition that families often need more than another referral. They need someone who can help connect the dots, make sense of complex information, identify what may be missing, and develop a thoughtful, individualized path forward.
It is a great privilege to be able to hold this space for children and adolescents today

Monica's approach combines clinical knowledge, neuroscience-informed education, trauma-informed care, and a deep appreciation for neurodiversity. She is passionate about helping individuals and families understand the relationship between the brain, body, behavior, and lived experience; recognize strengths alongside challenges; and develop a shared language for navigating what can sometimes feel like an overwhelming process.
At the heart of her work is a simple belief: people make sense. Sometimes we just need to look at the bigger picture.
Through Intersection Rising, Monica brings together the medical, mental health, developmental, educational, and family perspectives that are too often considered separately—helping individuals and families find clarity, connection, and a more informed way forward.
People make sense.
1
The intersection is the expertise. Monica is not simply a mental health provider. Intersection Rising’s differentiator is their ability to see the connections between medical, developmental, psychological, neurological, and environmental factors.
2
Monica is a clinical translator and connector. Intersection Rising helps families understand complicated information, recognize what may have been missed, and figure out what to do next. That's an important part of the Intersection Rising identity.
3
Intersection Rising is not a replacement for therapy. Our work helps families understand the bigger picture, develop an attainable roadmap, access meaningful education, and connect with appropriate providers.
My personal lived experiences, diverse educational background and work experience in pediatrics, pediatric neurology, as well as child and adolescent mental health combined with the support from a remarkable community of mental healthcare providers in Orange County, I incredibly humbled and grateful to be able to provide a space for you and your child, to hear you, to see you, to validate you. I treat every individual as though they were my own child, taking special care in helping my clients take agency in a support plan that they can be confident about. So if you are ready, let’s hit the ground running and get to work!
