About Me

Monica Garty Juice

PNP-BC, MSN, PMHS

Several years ago, to help address the rapidly increasing demand and epidemic of mental health care concerns, I started providing a coping skills program in a private practice, where I work as a pediatric nurse practitioner. Here, hundreds of children and adolescents successfully participated in the program. In addition, I have sought additional training and education, and built a large network of some of Orange County’s finest therapists, counselors, psychologists, advocates, and psychiatry providers who are already in the trenches. By offering my specific consulting plan, I hope to be able to reach others who can benefit from Intersection Rising.

Access to mental healthcare can be daunting and downright impossible

If you have ever tried to find a therapist for yourself or a family member, chances are you have had a glimpse of how challenging it can be. With financial restraints, insurance companies lacking adequate in network providers, access to mental healthcare can be daunting and downright impossible. If you made it this far in the process, you’ve already felt the feeling of placing all your eggs in one basket—or in this case—your baby in someone else's hands, hoping their kid connects to the therapist—never mind hoping they are skilled and can help.

I get it. Before I began my own therapy and healing journey, I put it off for years (dare I say, decades). When I had my son, I left myself no option. I would not allow myself to inadvertently pass down my own traumas, reactions, and maladaptive coping mechanisms. I called and called and called. Beat myself up about the money. Hid behind telehealth for a year even. I get it. Truly. And then, the most remarkable thing happened—I not only began to heal, but I began to grow.

Behind all this work, I have a deep passion to emphatically support children and adolescents as they develop self awareness and individuate, while giving parents the space and tools so they can breathe again. As a young child, I was highly sensitive, timid, and a perfectionist people pleaser. During middle school, I began exhibiting signs of being highly anxious, which manifested itself with obsessions and compulsions to cope with the discomfort. By the time high school came around, I was experiencing an array of physical manifestations and somatic symptoms that doctors couldn’t seem to pinpoint.

It is a great privilege to be able to hold this space for children and adolescents today

Plainly, the wheels had quickly fallen off the bus, leaving me feeling like I was living on an island by myself. I was perpetually sick, depressed, hopeless, and at times—defiant. I didn’t have the language to express how I was feeling, the courage to show up against the stigma, and my parents did not have the knowledge or resources to access the care I needed. Today, I pride myself on being the woman today that I needed as an adolescent, and hope to give you and your child a sensation of relief and, “I got you.”
